General Counsel
Debra Smith, Esq. is the General Counsel at Madison Title. In this role, Debra oversees the
corporate legal department, managing contracts, title claims, and ensuring compliance with
regulatory matters. She also leads new initiatives across the company, driving legal strategy and
operational excellence.
Previously, Debra served as Senior Vice President at Fidelity National Financial (FNF), where she managed a division of attorneys responsible for administering title insurance claims across 16 states and Canada for all FNF brands. Her extensive experience in title insurance and coverage law has equipped her with the expertise to navigate complex legal environments. Before her tenure at Fidelity, Debra was a commercial real estate attorney at The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America and The Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York.
Debra earned a Bachelor of Arts from The New School and a Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law. She is an active member of the New York State Bar Association, the NYU Law School Alumni Board, and the NYS Land Title Association.
